Plastic Drawers

So I am back with another little project. This one mostly happened because of the homework I was avoiding and being really bored over the weekend.

Every one has them, those plastic see through drawers. They are so ugly, at least I think so. That is why I decided to make my old plastic drawers from my days of living in a dorm room into a printing station. My printer is currently sitting on the floor, so this is a much needed thing.

So these are the what the drawers looked like before. They aren't terrible, but they match absolutely nothing. Plus I don't really like the see through aspect of them.

First I took the pieces apart and gave them a good cleaning and let them dry.

I painted the inside of the drawers a different shade of pink.

I put a few coats on the inside until it was opaque.

Then it was time for the outside I chose a metallic paint for the drawer holder (for lack of better words) and a shiny white paint for the outside of the actual drawers.
I did a few thin layers of paint so that there wasn't any running.

And because I am an impatient girl the paint was running on the front of the drawers

Lucky for me I have some old lace from a 1950s wedding dress hanging out in my craft box.

I laid that over the front of the drawer and used the same metallic spray paint that I used for the outside of the plastic drawers.

Then I pulled off the lace and let it dry.

I also got super excited about this lace thing and how easy it was so while I was waiting for the drawers to dry I decided to paint lace onto my vintage piano bench.

I also happen to have alphabet stickers laying around, so I labeled each drawer with them.

LOOK AT THESE LABELING SKILLS.

This is the same drawer you can just see the metallic- ness better in this photo.

And here they are all done and labeled.

Thanks for reading about my attempt to make a somewhat attractive printer station.
